About Me – Illuman of Indiana-Michigan

Our Story

Illuman of Indiana/Michigan is a group of men, many of whom have completed the Men’s Rites of Passage (MROP) created by Fr. Richard Rohr, OFM. We formed around 2010 to support the growing number of men in the region in theri post MROP or spiritual journey. Our goal is to promote spiritual growth, healing, and wholeness for all men. We do this by holding retreats, encouraging men to be honest and open with each other and helping men to connect through small group meetings which offer fellowship, growth and accountability.

We are simply interested in becoming better, more authentic men. There is a growing number of men located in Indiana and Michigan (Michiana) who have completed the Men’s Rites of Passage (MROP) developed by Richard Rohr, and are seeking to deepen their spiritual walk.

Our Events

We also sponsor meetings and retreats for men. Many of us have attended meetings and retreats of our neighboring Illinois MALEs region. Over the past 10 years we have gathered annually to connect around our interest in male spirituality.

Support and Guidance

For most men, the question of what it means to be a man is perplexing. Most men have a longing for the support and guidance of other men in their journey towards masculinity, maturity, and a deeper experience with the divine.

A Power Greater than Ourselves

We seek to form future generations of men who will restore these practices – serving to build a world that celebrates the beauty of all beings. We are men transforming men through a power greater than ourselves.

A Life Changing Spirituality

We are fed by the wisdom traditions of forgiveness and radical inclusivity. Our work recovers traditional patterns of male initiation, reveals the true and false self and honors the path of descent. We do this through the power of ritual, image, story and council.

Our programs and offerings focus on…

providing men with an opportunity to do their ‘inner work.’ We use ritual, teaching and ways of communicating that allow men to create
