“A young man writes to change the world, but a mature man writes to change himself.”
– Brian Mueller
Retreat Date: May 19-20
Throughout our time together at this upcoming retreat, we will work on accessing our own inner poet to help us makes sense of our experiences. We will create a space using nature, meditation, brotherhood and of course the inspiration of other poets to talk and write about life’s mysteries. Watch for registration information coming soon!
Led by Brian Mueller, this will prove to be a thought provoking and deeply mindful retreat. Much of Brian’s spiritual inspiration for writing poetry has come from his lifelong affiliation with Fr. Richard Rohr.
As a child, Brian was raised in New Jerusalem, the intentional community in Cincinnati, Ohio, founded by Fr Richard Rohr in the late 1960”s. For Brian poetry is not some esoteric art, practiced by cloistered academics. Rather it is the language of nature in which we are all fluent.
Brian Mueller spends his days working as a graphic and web designer, but not before waking up each morning with a cup of tea and some poetry. He tries to write daily after spending some time in meditation. He has published three volumes of poetry including Bull Head (2002), Bull Heart (2015) and More Bull (2016). The Bull series will soon be published in the anthology, Complete Bull (2017) which chronicles in both poetry and prose the spiritual growth of man as he matures.
