Healing The Wounded Man

Home HealingHealing The Wounded Man

A One Night Retreat // 7:00 pm Fri. 1/3/20 thru 4:00pm Sat. 1/4/20

“Thus our healing is not constituted in conquering or even getting rid of our wounds, but rather in transforming them.”

– Mike Whitman

Come join brothers on the journey where we create a safe container in which to explore our woundedness- our brokenness and willingly enter the deep places we are afraid of. Take the hand of a brother and know we are not alone on this journey. Let us begin the vulnerable pilgrimage of naming what is broken and seeing its wounds and asking questions like: “What is my core wound?” or “Where did it come from?”

Retreat Focus

To explore the idea of male roundedness and its causes and consequences. Also, to examine the healing process.

What Will I Learn?

It is an opportunity to learn and share with men on the same life journey.

Let’s go on a journey together where we can create a safe container in which we can explore our woundedness- our brokenness. Willingly enter deep places we are afraid of – take the hand of a brother and know we are not alone on this journey. Let us begin the vulnerable pilgrimage of naming what is broken and seeing its wounds and ask questions like: “What is my core wound?” or “Where did it come from?” Knowing we won’t be alone on this perilous journey into the shadowy places of our heart and soul; seeking ways to bind up these sores of past hurts done to us or by us. Befriending what feels like an enemy. Letting it teach us what healing could look like and letting go of brokenness that holds us back from our fullest humanity. Finding at the end of this time together, that much work still needs to be done and being at peace with that.

Some quotes for reflection on the retreat theme:

“I began to feel the pain and go into it…I began to feel myself as a whole, as opposed to a pieced together mechanism without feeling, that took my head from place to place to be educated, entertained or bored.”

– The Flying Boy: Healing the Wounded Man, by John Lee

“Thus our healing is not constituted in conquering or even getting rid of our wounds, but rather in transforming them.”

– Mike Whitman
